HVOF uses high-velocity combustion to propel alloy powder onto the substrate, creating a hard, dense, nearly defect-free coating. Plasma spray uses a plasma arc to apply ceramic materials, such as chrome oxide, for high-speed or high-slip applications. Metallizing is often practical for large wire applications and can provide an excellent surface finish.

Parkway-Kew Corporation offers large diameter grinding up to 65 inches in diameter and 12 feet in length. These grinding capabilities complement coating services by allowing coated components to be finished accurately after surfacing. In-house grinding helps support tighter process control, improved concentricity, and a ready-to-install surface finish.

The best coating depends on the component, operating conditions, substrate, wear pattern, and required finish. Parkway-Kew Corporation’s engineering team evaluates issues such as corrosion, abrasion, slip, wire quality, and downtime costs before recommending materials such as tungsten carbide, chrome oxide, ceramics, aluminum, stainless, zinc, or proprietary PK alloys.

In many cases, rebuilding and recoating can cost less than replacing a worn component, especially when the base part remains structurally sound. Parkway-Kew Corporation’s Restore & Grind process can repair only the worn drawline area on certain wire drawing blocks, allowing multiple lower-cost repairs before a full new coating is required.

Standard availability is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Project timing depends on the coating method, part size, required machining, inspection needs, and current production schedule. Supplying drawings, wear photos, material details, and operating conditions helps the team evaluate the work and provide clearer scheduling expectations.
