Wire drawing blocks, fracking plungers, crane wheels, wire rope pulleys, and festoon wheels can often be restored or upgraded. In some cases, rebuilding provides a lower-cost alternative to full replacement while improving durability compared with the original component design.

The best coating depends on the part material, operating load, wire or product quality requirements, corrosion exposure, temperature, and wear mechanism. Parkway-Kew’s engineering team evaluates the application and recommends suitable alloys, coating methods, and finishing requirements. Options may include tungsten carbide for severe wear, chrome oxide ceramics for high-speed wire drawing, or PK-400 metallizing for high-quality surface finish.

The Restore & Grind process repairs only the worn drawline area of a wire drawing block, then blends it into the original coating. Traditional regrinding often removes significant usable coating to reach the deepest groove. Because Parkway-Kew applies PK coatings with enhanced thickness, Restore & Grind repairs may be possible five to seven times before a completely new coating is needed.

Large diameter grinding, CNC machining, turning, coating, and finishing can be coordinated in-house for greater control.
