Parkway-Kew Corporation focuses on thermal spray, HVOF, plasma spray, metallizing, and related hardsurfacing methods for components used in wire mills, fracking, shipping terminals, and other heavy-duty operations.

HVOF coating uses a high-velocity fuel and oxygen process to propel alloy powder onto a prepared substrate, forming a dense, hard, nearly defect-free coating. It is especially useful for improving wear and corrosion resistance on process parts, including wire drawing blocks, where PK-920, PK-675, PK-700, and PK-750 coatings are commonly applied.

Plasma spray is well suited for ceramic and specialized coatings where wear resistance, surface quality, and performance consistency are important. Parkway-Kew introduced plasma sprayed ceramic coated blocks in the late 1990s, including PK-1500 chrome oxide, a highly wear-resistant ceramic used for high-speed and high-slip ferrous wire drawing applications.

Thermal spray, also called metallizing, applies metal or alloy coatings to improve surface performance. Parkway-Kew added metallizing in the early 1980s and commonly uses PK-400 for applications where a high-quality surface finish is critical. It can be especially practical for very large wire applications where other hardsurfacing methods may not be successful.

Parkway-Kew’s engineering team recommends coating materials based on the part’s operating conditions, substrate, wear pattern, corrosion exposure, and finish requirements. Available materials include ceramics, tungsten carbide, chrome oxide, aluminum, stainless, zinc, and proprietary alloys. The goal is to match the surfacing method and coating chemistry to the real-world failure mode.

Yes. Parkway-Kew supports rebuilding and finishing through in-house CNC milling, CNC turning, manual turning, and large diameter grinding. Grinding capabilities extend up to 65 inches in diameter and 12 feet in length, while machining capabilities can handle parts up to 72 inches in diameter, complementing the coating process.

Typical service availability is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Turnaround depends on component size, coating process, rebuilding scope, grinding requirements, and inspection needs. For repeat industrial parts, drawings, photos, prior coating specifications, or wear history can help speed evaluation and support a more accurate production plan.
