PK-400 metallizing for dimensional restoration and for wire that must run mark-free.

Metallizing — the wire-arc thermal spray process we added in the 1980s — is the right answer for dimensional restoration on a wide range of shafts, seats, and journals. The standard chemistry is PK-400.

In wire drawing, PK-400 is chosen specifically for wire that requires a high-finish surface: because the coating is softer than HVOF, it is far less likely to mark the wire as it draws. It does not achieve as smooth a coating finish as HVOF spray coatings do, but that is not what PK-400 is for. Parkway-Kew's metallizing has been a mainstay of the shop for over forty years.
